Introduction
Many people living with HIV wonder whether they can apply for a hair transplant. Hair Art Clinics accepts these applications and handles each one with the same care and respect as any other client.
HIV status on its own is not an automatic reason to accept or decline. Your degree of hair loss, donor area and general health are considered together; the decision follows an individual physician assessment.
Individual assessment process
The process moves step by step, at your own pace:
Pre-procedure consultation
Before a procedure is scheduled, the consultation covers:
- Your expectations and individual planning for a natural-looking result
- Which documents may be needed for the assessment and how to share them securely
- The procedure day, recovery and what to keep in mind
- Any questions you have
Follow-up
After the hair transplant, your recovery is followed with scheduled check-ins:
- Day 1: first wash and dressing check
- Day 10: crust check
- Months 1, 3 and 6: online photo-based assessment
Your health information is shared only with the people who need it for the assessment, in line with the GDPR. No advertising or analytics tools are loaded on this page.
Frequently asked questions
I am living with HIV. Can I apply for a hair transplant?
Yes, we accept your application. Whether you are suitable is determined by an individual physician assessment. HIV status on its own is not decisive.
Do I need to mention my HIV status in my first message?
No. In the first conversation you can get general information. Health details are discussed during the assessment, through a channel you are comfortable with.
Do I need to change or stop my medication?
That decision belongs only to the doctor who treats you. We do not suggest medication changes; please discuss any questions with your doctor.
What is considered in the assessment?
The degree of hair loss, the donor area, your general health and your doctor's view. Any documents that may be needed are explained during the assessment.
Are results the same for everyone?
No. Results vary from person to person and depend on factors such as donor area, hair loss pattern, health, technique and aftercare.
How does follow-up work after the procedure?
A first wash on day 1, a crust check on day 10 and online photo-based assessments in months 1, 3 and 6.
